Case Study: Refrigerator Manufacturer Innovates with Collaborative Sensor Design

Our latest case study showcases a project Standex worked on with a refrigerator manufacturer. Standex Electronics’ extensive experience as a household & appliance component supplier ensured the efficient development of a cost-effective solution that met our customer’s requirements. Important considerations included:

  • The type, shape and size of the activating magnet,
  • The orientation of the magnet to the reed sensor,
  • The materials and mounting methods of the sensor package, and
  • The implementation of electrical connections in the sensor package.

In this case, we worked closely with our customer to build a sensing solution for when the refrigerator drawers were open so it could turn off the cooling system. Collaboratively evaluating these competing tradeoffs resulted in a highly optimized sensor product.

Find out the full details of this project and learn how Standex worked alongside our customer to ensure dependable functionality and a successful end product.
