Power Magnetics | Introduction

Standex-Meder Electronics' ATC-Frost Magnetics Division offers a broad range of standard and custom power magnetics to fit most any need in low frequency (50/60Hz to 400Hz range) and high frequency (20 KHz to RF range), power inductors and common mode chokes. A power transformer is selected to convert a primary supply voltage to a secondary voltage level either lower, higher, or the same as the prime voltage without much or any consideration given for matching of circuit impedances. ATC-Frost Magnetics winds all power transformers on quality electrical grade steel cores to concentrate the magnetic flux and provide a high degree of inductive coupling. Smallest surface mount toroidal power chip inductors in the industry. A toroidal common mode choke can be specified with exact value required from an economical family of standard products - they can be configured for vertical or horizontal mounting, with or without base. Standard or custom designs can be proven in industry-leading environmental and electrical test lab. Most of these products are UL/CSA recognized or are designed to meet UL/ CSA/VDE requirements - with other agency approvals gained as needed. Antenna Coils & Immobilizer Antennas - CustomStandex-Meder supplies antennas and coils using leading edge design and manufacturing technologies. Our products are used throughout the world in automotive keyless entry, garage door openers, and military sonobuoys in remote locations. Our immobilizer security antennas are used in many automotive, motorcycle and marine ignition systems - while our antenna coils are found on in-home security systems. CSB Series Current Sense Transformer

CSB Series High/Low Frequency Current Sense Transformer in PCB through-hole mount (THT) plug-in design with primary and secondary windings that are PC integrated, eliminating need for the customer to install primary winding separately as is usually required in toroidal designs. Low cost compact package design, featuring varnish impregnated to reduce audible noise. Plastic bobbin meets the UL 94 flammability requirement. SJ / SU Series High Frequency Toroidal Power Inductor packaged in a surface mount design (SMD) is ideal where space and weight are critical and surface mount is required. When used as power inductors, they may be connected for higher current lower inductance or lower current higher inductance. When used as 1:1 transformers (coupled inductors) they provide electrical isolation. May be manufactured with economical powdered iron cores or higher performance low loss cores. General purpose TLE TLB FPT Series Low Voltage Lighting power transformers with secondary protection and double insulation are suitable for low voltage lighting circuits. Dielectric strength tested to CSA/UL standards. Enclosed models include secondary circuit protection. Toroid models are supplied with necessary mounting hardware. TA-TAE-FPT Series Auto power transformers are line frequency magnetics designed in an open, enclosed package with an economical method of changing voltage levels. FPS Series Line Frequency Magnetics/Other Packages

FPS Series Class 2 power transformers energy-limiting wall plug line frequency magnetic transformer with output voltage limited to meet the requirements for connection to Class 2 circuits as defined in the electrical code plugs into any North American standard duplex receptacle CSA (NRTL/C) certified to C22.2 No. 223-M91 and UL 1310. Rugged, high-impact, flame retardant thermoplastic enclosure with secondary screw terminals hidden and protected from accidental shorting. Also available with flexible secondary line cord and jacks for special applications. Bobbins and shroud meet UL94 VO rating. Most models use energy limiting fuse-less design. Split/dual bobbin construction provides for low capacitive coupling, minimizing noise. No electrostatic shield necessary. High isolation primary to secondary. Designed to meet CSA C22.2 No. 66 and UL1585. Line Frequency Magnetics / Toroidal

Our power transformers or line frequency magnetics / toroidal transformers are available as bare toroids which can be integrated into the devices themselves or as toroids housed in enclosures with circuit breakers, fused input, plug-ins and other user-friendly options. Toroidal Wound - Where a round "donut shaped" core of continuous strip electrical grade steel has the coils wound directly on to it. The magnetic coupling achieved is extremely good, and results in a smaller high efficiency power transformer suited to applications where weight, noide, stray magnetic field and efficiency are very important.  Portable medical equipment and test equipment, audio amplifiers, CRT displays are a few products to benefit from this modern construction technique. Compliant with UL/IEC 60601 specifications, these transformers feature extremely low leakage current between primary.

FPT Series Power Toroidal Transformers offers 44 standard models from 15VA to 500 VA. Dual 115/230V 50/60Hz rated primary and dual secondaries for series or parallel selection with class B 130°C insulation system utilized. Low radiated magnetic field. ATC-Frost UL / CSA family recognition assures fast, trouble free approval of your equipment. Toroidal transformer designs are typically 50% lighter and much more compact than traditional EI laminated transformers.
