Top Tips for Optimizing Winding Losses in Transformers and Inductors

The magnetomotive force (MMF) is the force that generates the magnetic flux in the core and the windings. The MMF is proportional to the number of turns in the winding and the current flowing through it. The higher the MMF, the greater the magnetization of the core, and the more power losses due to hysteresis and eddy currents.

By considering these factors during the design process, it is possible to significantly reduce winding losses of transformers and inductors.
