Very simply it will improve the quality and reliability of the product by weeding out these various problem types:
- Overstressed reed switch usually from assembly
- Small crack on the reed seal
- Broken reed switch
- Plating or sputtering pealing off
- Air contamination in the glass capsule
- Particles on the contacts
